Internal audit

Internal audit

"Internal audit of processes and controls — a report the board can act on, not a restatement of the statutory file."

Internal audit is useful when it looks at how a process actually runs, not at whether the statutory auditor will be comfortable. We pick two or three cycles a quarter and test them to the document trail.

What this engagement covers

  • Scoping with management or the audit committee
  • Walkthroughs of the chosen cycles — procure-to-pay, order-to-cash, payroll, inventory
  • Sample testing against the stated policy
  • Exception reporting with owner and due date
  • Follow-up of prior observations

How we work

The report is short. Each observation has the risk, the evidence and a suggested fix. We do not bury a finding in an appendix.

Who it is for

Companies and growing firms that want an internal view before a lender, a board or a statutory auditor asks for one.

Tell us which cycle worries you. That is a better start than a full-year mandate.
